As I said before, the university is not particularly hard to get into. It's just a matter of where you stand at the end of your high school years. I don't think this school is a particular one that anyone definitely aspires to get into. I feel the main appeal is just the cost and that compared to other universities in NJ that aren't Rutgers, TCNJ, or Seton Hall, the education is pretty decent. If you can hold out for another university that has more appeal of things to do on campus, I'd suggest checking out somewhere else. Montclair also has an idiotic freshman seminar class that is mandatory and a waste of time and shouldn't be in the curriculum.

As I said before, MSU is not difficult to get into unless you are a below average student who doesn't perform well in schoolwork. Also it is definitely not the school for someone who is an over achiever, the school has limitations that you'll be unsatisfied with. Out of the schools I got into(St. John's University in Queens, Ramapo, Rutgers, Rowan, and Seton Hall) I picked Montclair because I was wait listed until Spring semester at Rutgers and I liked the location of Montclair over Rowan and Ramapo. Seton Hall and St John's offered me little in scholarship/funding, and Montclair was easily one of the least expensive schools. Honestly I don't necessarily regret my choice, I am very fond of the faculty in the political science department and made a niche for myself. The worst thing about being a freshman was the mandatory new student seminar course. Basically it's a course that "welcomes you to college" by telling you as much information as a senior year high school health class. It's really a waste of time and should be removed from the curriculum. I feel that one needs to experience something before they can feel anything towards it, not have someone force upon opinions of how one should act and feel in a new setting.
